The Thomas Consulting Group LLC was founded by Abraham Thomas in 2003, shortly after his twenty-two years of service, and retirement as General Manager of Construction, Asia Pacific Projects to the Motorola Corporation, and Richard Ridgeway.

 

Mr. Ridgeway is a service-disabled veteran (Viet Nam era Sea Bee), and has more than 40 years construction management experience that, encompass such well known firms as Smith Hinchman & Grylls (SmithGroup), Fluor Engineers & Constructors, and the Arabian American Oil Company (Saudi Aramco).

As Motorola's former director of construction, real estate, and facility engineering in Asia Pacific, Mr. Thomas was responsible for the organizational efforts required to design and construct Motorola facilities in the Asia Pacific Region. His staff was responsible for establishing green field facilities, renovating existing facilities, and providing space for a variety of Motorola business functions. He oversaw the planning, budgeting and scheduling of the projects in conjunction with Motorola manufacturing, Motorola facility group, Architect, Engineering and Construction Management Firms and other outside consultants as required. His personal expertise in the areas of construction, procurement, contract negotiation, programming, architectural and engineering design have proven invaluable to the successful completion of projects in a timely and cost effective manner. These skills have been developed over his 28 years of experience as an Architectural Designer, Architectural Project Manager, Construction Manager and Project Director on a variety of projects in the USA, Caribbean, Latin America and South East Asia.

 

 

Richard D. Ridgeway, A.S.P.E.

 Mr. Ridgeway  has a very strong background in the areas of cost estimating and value engineering, which he attained through positions with several major architectural, engineering and contracting firms in the United States. He is a licensed Electrical Contractor and a licensed Supervising Electrician in the City of Chicago.

 

Mr. Ridgeway’s career in Value Engineering began in 1972, when Mr. Al Dell’Isola his eventual value engineering mentor of more than 30 years hired him for a full-time department staff position as, a VE workshop team member (electrical) for 250 VE studies involving, a major Chicago School Rehabilitation Program (250 schools).

 

Mr. Ridgeway’s, experience in the Oil & Gas Industry began in 1975, when he accepted a position as, a construction engineer (4 years) for Fluor Engineers & Constructors during construction of, the Valdez Oil Terminal at Valdez, Alaska.

 

Mr. Ridgeway’s, experience expanded in the Oil & Gas industry in 1981, when he accepted a position as senior cost estimator (4 years), Northern Area Projects, Project Design & Construction, ARAMCO at, Ras Tanura Saudi Arabia.

As Senior Cost Estimator he provided cost estimates for, major capital expenditures oil and gas projects (including 2 offshore platforms from Japan) for review and approval by, ARAMCO Board of Directors.

Engineering News-Record cited Al Dell'Isola in 1964 for outstanding achievement in the introduction of, Value Engineering to the construction industry. Mr. Dell’Isola formerly served as Value Engineering Director for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command and the Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C.

The U. S. Value Engineering Law, now known as Public Law 104-106 is, in great part credited to, Mr. Alphonse Dell'Isola pioneering of the application in construction, and his expert testimony to several Senate and House Committees. He has been instrumental in introducing VE Programs in over 35 countries, 30 government agencies and 30 large corporations. He has conducted over 1000 contracts for various organizations and agencies on projects valued at over 55 billion dollars that resulted in implemented savings of some $2.5 Billion.

Mr. Dell‘Isola has recently performed a VE study on the newly proposed World Trade Building.
